Commercial Relations between Brazil and China in Apparel Segment: A Descriptive-Historical Analysis

Brazil and China are among the main developing economies in today's world and the international commerce between these countries has been significantly increasing in the last decades, highlighting sectors like workmanship, such as textile sector. Considering the relevance of this phenomenon, this work investigates, by means of a descriptive-historical analysis, commercial relations in clothing segment established between Brazil-China, between the years of 2000 and 2013. A historical synthesis of the relations between these countries is presented, highlighting political, commercial-economical and scientific-technological actions. As following, the textile sector in Brazil is contextualized, enhancing the importance of this industry given the comprehensiveness of production processes, value chain and employability. The study also highlights the increasing trade flow between the countries, showing that Brazil imports low added value products and, at the same time, imports high added value products, which improve its national industry. To conclude, specific commercial relations in clothing segment are presented, additionally to conclusions that point the effects of an increasing commercial deficit of clothing products and its consequences to national industry.
